Special Sessions

Special Sessions provide the opportunity to focus in details on particular topics of interest for IWSSIP. They may represent a specific working field where researchers would like to meet and discuss advances.

  • Radars and Remote Sensing
Organizers: Dusan Gleich and Venceslav Kafedziski

Proposals

The proposal for a Special Session must include:

  • Title of the Special Session
Proposer’s name, institution, email and short CV (up to 100 words)
  • Motivation and background for the Special Session (up to 500 words)
  • A list of potential authors and their affiliations (between 6 and 10)
  • A list of potential reviewers and their affiliations (between 8 and 12)

The general organizing committee will support the Special Session organizers by sending a general call for papers for the general track and the Special Sessions through the IWSSIP emailing list. Dedicated open calls for papers for accepted Special Sessions will not be launched. It will be the Special Session organizer’s responsibility to publicize the Special Session among researchers and practitioners in the field and attract a sufficient number of papers.

The expected number of papers in a Special Session is 4 to 6 papers.

Papers

Papers submitted to IWSSIP Special Sessions follow the regular conference template and page limit and will undergo the same review process as regular papers. The Special Session organizers are responsible for organizing the review process of their respective Special Sessions according to the list of proposed potential reviewers. It is expected that the Special Session organizers will invite and assign reviewers to their special session.

Deadlines and Evaluation

Special Session proposals must be submitted by Feb 20, 2023 (extended) to chair-iwssip@feit.ukim.edu.mk in PDF format with an e-mail subject “IWSSIP 2023: Proposal for a Special Session”.

Proposers of accepted Special Sessions will be informed by Feb 28, 2023 (extended).

The evaluation will consider the proposed topic relevance, the technical content and the proposer’s reach for successful organization of the Special Session.

Restrictions

During the review process, Special Session Organizers must take into account that:

  • An individual cannot be (co‐)author of more than two papers submitted to the same Special Session
  • Papers from the organizers cannot exceed 60% of the contents of the Special Session

If a Special Session does not reach a sufficient number of papers, then accepted papers will be allocated to regular sessions wherever possible. In case of indications of weakly organized Special Sessions, the conference organizers reserve the right to cancel the respective Special Session.

Registration

All participants and speakers in the Special Sessions, including organisers, must pay the registration fee.
